Box.net users are sure to be excited with the upcoming changes to the company’s content management application user interface. Box.net has redesigned the interface from the ground up, adding new collaboration features and real-time notification capabilities.
Based in Palo Alto, California, Box.net users will start making a beta version of the revamped content management application available to users, allowing them to toggle between the new software and the current version through the end of February.
This new user interface offers significantly more space for viewing content. And, a new collaboration capability will allow users to engage in threaded discussions within folders, instead of within specific files.
The Box.net website also now offers a new Apps tab to enable users to link to the company’s Apps Marketplace, which offers roughly 150 complementary, pre-integrated applications from partners.
According to Box.net officials, the latest version of their content management application is designed around simplicity for the enterprise.
This content management application recently got a nod from Forrester Research, which highlighted the company places a premium on user experience as a differentiator and recognizes the need to continue to invest in this method of differentiation.
Forrester Analyst also noted that Box.net is positioned well against SharePoint in many instances, including areas of collaboration, and social and basic content management services. SharePoint does tend to lead, however, in situations where customers need broader capabilities, such as search, business intelligence and application development.
Box.net was founded in 2005 and positions its application as a content management option that can work well for companies of all sizes. The company achieved a 99.98 percent uptime for its application in 2010.
